James 4:13-17 “Look here, you people who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit.’ How do you know what will happen tomorrow? For your life is like the morning fog – it’s here a little while, then it’s gone. What you ought to say is, ‘If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.’ Otherwise you will be boasting about your own plans, and all such boasting is evil. Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.”
God has our plans already so it makes it easy for us. We just have to listen and look for what he wants us to do. If something is planted in your head to do and you just can’t shake it, there is a reason for that. God is talking to you and giving you opportunities to do something for him. There are many instances in the Bible and in our lives where people ran from what they ought to have done. God doesn’t want us to run. He wants us to do what he asks and do more.
This year as you think about your goals and what you want to accomplish, don’t leave God out. He should be included in every part of your goals. We all have the same ending in life where we have to face him and be accountable for our actions. Think about what you need to do this year so that when you see God you will hear, “well done, my good and faithful servant.”
Happy New Year!
