There are times when we know what we should be doing but stay busy doing everything but what we actually should do. We stay busy all day getting things done but it’s not what we need to be doing. It’s the same when try to please God by going to church, reading His word and going through all the motions we think He wants us to do. However, we need to really dig deeper and be sure we are being obedient in all things rather than just what we feel like doing on the surface.
1 Samuel 15:22 “But Samuel replied, ‘What is more pleasing to the LORD: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.’” (NLT)
Dear Lord, help us today to submit and be obedient to You today. We want to read Your word and seek Your will and be obedient to You. We don’t want to just go through the motions and do what we think good Christians should do. Help us today Lord to know Your will, obey You and follow Your plan for us. Help us today Lord to worship You through honoring Your name and being obedient to You in all things. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Make today a wonderful day! Make a difference!

It all adds up. We may not understand the big picture in little things we do each day. We say a kind word to one person. We say no to that chocolate cake. We tuck away a $10 for a rainy day. We clean out one area of our house. We spend a few minutes with our family. These little things may not seem like much but it all adds up. This year, write down these little things. Then at the end of the year, you will see the difference you have made!
Breadcrumbs will be sent out from firstname.lastname@example.org beginning January 12, 2011. You will receive the daily Breadcrumb emails you signed up for on this website. Thank you so much for your subscription and patience. We hope you enjoy the devotionals!
James 4:13-17 “Look here, you people who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit.’ How do you know what will happen tomorrow? For your life is like the morning fog – it’s here a little while, then it’s gone. What you ought to say is, ‘If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.’ Otherwise you will be boasting about your own plans, and all such boasting is evil. Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.”
God has our plans already so it makes it easy for us. We just have to listen and look for what he wants us to do. If something is planted in your head to do and you just can’t shake it, there is a reason for that. God is talking to you and giving you opportunities to do something for him. There are many instances in the Bible and in our lives where people ran from what they ought to have done. God doesn’t want us to run. He wants us to do what he asks and do more.
This year as you think about your goals and what you want to accomplish, don’t leave God out. He should be included in every part of your goals. We all have the same ending in life where we have to face him and be accountable for our actions. Think about what you need to do this year so that when you see God you will hear, “well done, my good and faithful servant.”
Happy New Year!
